Some good books I’ve been reading lately:
Enter Ghost by Isabella Hammad
Always Will Be by Mykaela Saunders
A Bookshop in Algiers by Kaouther Adimi (translated by Chris Andrews)
The Meursault Investigation by Kamel Daoud (translated by John Cullen)
Exhalation by Ted Chiang
Hospital by Sanya Rushdi (translated by Arunava Sinha)
Enter Ghost is a book I’ve been meaning to read when I first heard of it early in 2023 before it was released.
Hospital was recently listed for the Stella Prize. It is a brilliant book that I like to recommend.
Always Will Be is a book that pushes the boundaries of speculation and has such warmth and imagination. It is a book that I was looking forward to reading after the mixtape anthology of First Nations speculative fiction of This All Come Back Now.
In other news, I’ll be running this writing workshop in Parramatta at the PHIVE building.
It will be held on Saturday the 1st of June. It will be focused on maintaining creative momentum which I believe is the most important component in writing steadily in all the dips of life.
I will also have a standalone event as part of the Sydney Writers Festival in Parramatta where I will be in conversation with Sarah Malik. I am so excited to chat to Sarah again after the conversation we had about The Lovers back in December.
