There are a few things on in the month of May.
Firstly there will be a panel on translation and Latin American literature at the Addi Road Writers’ Festival on Saturday the 16th of May. It’ll explore trends over time, recent favourites, what gets translated and what doesn’t, what gets published and what doesn’t, and factors that influence all of the above.
This panel will be with Rosario Lázaro Igoa and Chris Andrews.
I have two events at the Sydney Writers’ Festival. On Friday evening, I will be interviewing the amazing Raaza Jamshed about her debut novel What Kept You? I have about a million questions for Raaza but I will endeavour to keep it to the allocated time!
And then on Saturday the 23rd, there will be What Makes a Writer with Maxine Beneba Clarke, Eda Gunaydin in conversation with James Jiang, about our latest books and our writings. This will be held at the Parramatta Town Hall and I’m looking forward to be speaking about my Goodbye, My Love in Parramatta. The Sydney Writers’ Festival has programmed a whole day of events in Parramatta on Saturday the 23rd. The full list is here.
In the last week of May, there are two events at the Arts and Cultural Exchange. There is the 6th event in the Parramatta Literary Salon series. The poets will be Antoinette Luu and Annabella Luu, and then Abbas El-Zein will be in conversation about his body of work which includes Tell The Running Water, Leave to Remain, The Secret Maker of the World and Bullet Paper Rock.
This will be held on Wednesday the 27th of May.

Lastly, on Friday the 29th of May, I am going to be facilitating the conversation for A Western Sydney Book Club around The Hair of the Pigeon, the second novel by Mohammed Massoud Morsi. There is always great conversation, great tea and sweets, and an opportunity to chat about books. Please reserve your spot here.
